What is Visiting Teaching? One of the ways that we reach out and fellowship other women in the (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) congregation is through visiting teaching. Every woman has designated visiting teachers (usually two, in a companionship) who visit or call regularly, ideally at least once a month. This inspired program links each woman to other women in her congregation. It can create friendships, provide opportunities to serve, and help everyone involved learn about and grow closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ.
What is Personal Progress?Personal Progress is an achievement program designed to help young women ages 12-18 strengthen their testimonies of Jesus Christ, strengthen both their present and future families, prepare to be worthy to make and keep sacred temple covenants, and to prepare for their future roles and responsibilities. There are eight values for which experiences and projects are completed: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue.

These are the handouts I’m using for YW Manual 1 Lesson 33 – Avoiding Degrading Media Influences. I printed the Mormon Ad (it’s so gross – but awesome!) on one side of a piece of cardstock , and then printed the … Continue readingPin It
I’ve made another agenda to help our youth take the lead in our meetings. This one is for BYC – or Bishopric Youth Committee. You can download it here. Pin ItPin It
We have another girls camp prep activity coming up – a 5-mile hike with all the girls. We’ve mapped out a nice trail through a local park, and will set out together in a couple weeks. I’ve made a handout … Continue readingPin It
I made some Young Women value crayons today, and am so smitten by their cuteness. We are encouraging our girls to read in the Book of Mormon every day, for at least 5 minutes (remember PROS?), and are having an … Continue readingPin It
Tonight we are doing some personal progress goal setting. I made these cards to jot down notes on the experiences and goals the young women would like to pursue in the next couple months; printed on value color papers, of … Continue readingPin It
This week’s Young Women lesson is Seeking the Companionship of the Holy Ghost from Manual 1 Lesson 4. I found myself drawn to material in the 2012 Resource Guide, particularly the talk from Elder Bednar, Receive the Holy Ghost. I … Continue reading
Please excuse the slightly irreverent cartoon. I came across it on BCC, when they posted about following General Conference through various social media – including twitter and facebook. I thought it might be a fun way to get our girls’ … Continue reading
We like to give the young women in our ward a little gift on the Sunday before their birthdays. This year we are making ”Arise and Shine” wands made with giant Pixy Sticks. I wanted the top to resemble a … Continue readingPin It
We like to have a small treat to recognize the young women who are working on their personal progress every week. Anyone who has worked on an experience or project can come to the front of the room and grab … Continue readingPin It
